Materials testing
Quorvyn Imaging
ConceptImage-based material analysis, from image to report
Quorvyn Imaging is intended to evaluate metallographic micrographs, component photographs and CT volumes in a single application, keeping every step from the raw dataset to the released report traceable. The application is at the concept stage.
Planned for: Windows · Linux
At a glance
- Status
- Concept, not available yet
- Systems
- Windows and Linux.
- Processing
- On your device. Your content does not leave it.
- Data
- Metallographic micrographs, component photos and CT volumes in one workflow.
- Statement of conformity
- None. The judgement stays with you and your quality system.
- Measuring
- Only with a stored calibration, otherwise area fractions and pixels.
Features
- Three kinds of data, one workflow
- High-resolution micrographs, component photographs with perspective and shadow, and CT stacks, meaning medical DICOM as well as industrial DICONDE and TIFF series. What a pixel means depends on calibration and acquisition method. Managing exactly that difference is the point.
- Provenance stays traceable
- Originals stay untouched, calibrations and evaluation steps are versioned, an evaluation run is repeatable, and the chain of steps is logged and linked by checksums.
- Quantitative microstructure analysis
- Characteristic values on the micrograph, meaning graphite form and size, phase fractions, particles, pores, inclusions, grain size and coating thickness.
- Fractography with counter-hypotheses
- Every finding carries alternative explanations alongside it rather than letting one interpretation stand alone. A person makes the decision and it is recorded as such.
- Porosity in the volume
- Evaluate pores, cavities and cracks in three dimensions, meaning volume, shape, distribution and position relative to the functional surfaces.
- Measurement only with calibration
- Without a stored calibration, Quorvyn Imaging reports area fractions and pixels rather than millimetres. A dimension without a scale would be a number that feigns accuracy.
What Quorvyn Imaging deliberately does not do
These are not open tasks. They describe where Quorvyn Imaging stops, so that nobody builds on the assumption that it carries on.
- No application yet
- Quorvyn Imaging is a concept. There is nothing to try, no schedule and no price. This page describes the intention and not the state.
- No statement of conformity
- Quorvyn Imaging will not certify that a test complies with a standard. The name of an evaluation profile says nothing about that. The judgement stays with you and your quality system.
- No medical use
- Being able to read medical CT data does not make Quorvyn Imaging a medical device. It is not intended for diagnostics on humans and is not being developed for it.
- No substitute for expertise
- Quorvyn Imaging prepares, measures and records. Assessing a finding is professional work and stays that way.
Who Quorvyn Imaging is meant for
Metallographers, fractographers and materials testers, quality laboratories, foundries, coating and manufacturing operations, research institutes, industrial CT users, expert witnesses and failure analysts.
So wherever a picture is not a picture but a measurement object, and where in the end somebody puts their name to a finding.
Rule or model
Calibration and unit conversion follow a fixed rule: without a stored scale, no measurement in millimetres, that is geometry rather than a guess. The microstructure and fractography evaluation is instead meant to run on trained models, because graphite form, phase fractions or fracture patterns do not fit a rigid formula. Every finding still carries its counter-hypotheses, and the decision stays with a person.
Under the Cyber Resilience Act, we classified Quorvyn Imaging ourselves before its release as a product with digital elements that counts neither as important nor as critical, so we assess its conformity ourselves, without a notified body. The models it is meant to use are not high-risk systems under the EU AI Act and are subject to no specific transparency obligations. If the planned scope changes, we review the classification again.
Why one tool for three kinds of data
A micrograph, a component photograph and a CT slice look similar on screen and are fundamentally different underneath. What a pixel means depends on calibration, acquisition method and field of application. In practice this falls apart into three programs with three file formats, three export routes and three places where the provenance of a value gets lost.
Quorvyn Imaging is meant to close that gap. Every value should stay traceable from the original dataset to the released report, across all three kinds of data.
Where things stand
So far Quorvyn Imaging consists of the application shell and this concept. Nothing on this page describes a feature you could use today. We list the application here anyway, because it is meant to be built and because an empty space in the product list would not be a more honest answer either.

Common questions about Quorvyn Imaging
Can I try Quorvyn Imaging yet?
No. Quorvyn Imaging is a concept, and so far only the application shell and the description on this page exist. There is nothing to try, no schedule and no price.
What data is Quorvyn Imaging meant to evaluate?
Quorvyn Imaging is meant to evaluate metallographic micrographs, component photos and CT volumes. For CT data it is meant to read medical DICOM as well as industrial DICONDE and TIFF series. The three kinds of data are to come together in one workflow, so that the provenance of every value stays traceable from the original dataset to the approved report.
Which systems is Quorvyn Imaging planned for?
Windows and Linux are planned, each as a direct download. The analysis is meant to run entirely on your computer.
Does Quorvyn Imaging certify that a test meets a standard?
No. Quorvyn Imaging will make no statement of conformity, and the name of an evaluation profile says nothing about that. The judgement stays with you and your quality system.
Is Quorvyn Imaging meant for medical images?
No. Even though Quorvyn Imaging is meant to read medical CT data, it is not a medical device. Diagnostics on humans is not its purpose, and it is not being developed for that.
Does Quorvyn Imaging replace expert judgement?
No. Quorvyn Imaging is meant to prepare, measure and record. For every finding it is meant to carry alternative explanations instead of letting one reading stand alone. A person makes the decision, and it is recorded as that person's decision.
